The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

Stay Connected is a large, four-display, social media interactive wall. It highlights content from thought leaders and philanthropists around the world and compares important trending topics that are relevant to the work of the Gates Foundation. It also features current and upcoming events at the visitor center.

This interactive pulls in live data throughout the day and updates the application. This required a local database to be updated as the content changes. As a result of this, the memory management of this application was crucial. Another cool component of this project was the integration of the Microsoft Kinect sensor. We used this to detect the presence of users and have the application respond and react accordingly. With the Kinect we were able to detect the height of the users and display the content to them at roughly eye level.
