The Global Challenges interactive uses extraordinary data to outline the challenges the Gates Foundation faces in its mission, the impact the foundation is having, and the work still need to be done. The animated floor map on a large six-screen display engages active and passive users. At the two interactive stations, visitors use physical pucks to explore important issues and share their findings to the larger display.
This project has some interesting technical challenges. One machine was used to drive the six-screen display and each of the puck stations had their own machine. Syncing all three machines and allowing for interactions to be pushed to the large display was a fun problem that took some time and attention. It was also the first time I had used the fiducial puck technology, so integrating that into our familiar process of developing Cinder applications was a great challenge.
